Targets and tasks of Russian Hostel-movement.

The main target of the YHAR activity is rendering assistance to its members in realization of work aimed on development of international youth cooperation ("Hostel-movement") in Russia.

YHAR provides assistance to its members in:

  • creation of infrastructure in the field of international youth cooperation (youth hostels, youth tourism operators, information centers);
  • provision of hostels or other accommodation for tourists in which there shall be no distinction of race, nationality, colour, religion, sex, class or political opinions and thereby to develop a better understanding of their fellow men, both at home and abroad.
  • giving young people an opportunity of travelling abroad for acquaintance with culture of different countries and establishment of direct contacts;
  • organizing youth tourism in "hostel-style";
  • improvement of understanding among young "hostel-style" holiday-makers;
  • expansion of forms and service range offered in St.Petersburg in the sphere of international cooperation;
  • participation of young people in cultural and sport events;
  • expansion of cultural and social ties between young people living in different regions of the Russian Federation and abroad;
  • organizing of children, teenagers and youth specialists exchange;
  • creation of opportunity for foreign and Russian youth volunteer work in St.Petersburg;
  • promotion the education of all young people of all nations, but especially the young people of limited means, by encouraging them in a greater knowledge, love and care of the countryside and an appreciation of the cultural values of towns and cities in all parts of the world;
  • giving some benefits to organizations rendering social information services to young people;
  • creation of favorable image of Russia for residents of other countries;
  • development of youth contacts, cultural and humanitarian ties among the youth of all countries;
  • elimination of language barriers.
